Are you tired of the same old colors in your home or office? Are you feeling down and out? If so, try a new paint scheme that will energize, excite, and play a major role in lifting your mood.

Here are some suggestions for a new paint scheme that can be used to lift your spirits and create an entirely new environment in your home or office.

Let’s assume you have a home office with white walls, white furniture, green rug, and a black computer station. Okay, ready? Begin by choosing the color that will best reflect your personality and enhance your mood. Arrange to have the furniture removed so that you can opt for a more contemporary look. Choose a color rug that will enhance the color scheme in your room. Select some artworks that also reflect your taste and color scheme.

Here is one suggestion. Choose the color red for your walls. Not red that has orange in it, but pure red. Use semi-gloss white for window trimmings, door frames, and baseboards. Paint the ceiling white as well. For curtains, select a black pattern with a valence. The furniture can be contemporary white and black. For the artwork on the walls, you can choose a myriad of contemporary prints or you can decide to select one wall to add antique plates.

You can refinish the black computer table and move it to the window area. A tiffany lamp would be perfect as a corner piece next to the computer table since it is full of colors such as reds, blacks, pinks, blues, and greens. For the rug, you have two choices; you can buy a runner to place on top of the existing rug that reflects the colors in the room, or you can order a new rug with a red and black color design, or a solid red.

If you have antiques that you would like to place in one area of the room, you can purchase a black bookcase and place the antique pieces on each shelf. If you have an end-table that is made of light wood, you can refinish it in black. Add a decorative vase that brings out the colors in the room.

Once you have chosen the basic color for your room, everything else will fall into place. Another tip is to choose three basic colors and paint a stroke of each color on the wall for a few weeks to determine which one best suits you.

The same applies to your office. Begin by choosing colors, then paint strokes on the walls, and start researching furniture stores and wholesale furniture companies that offer wide selections. You may decide to paint just one wall a specific color in your office and leave the rest white.

But whatever you decide, the finished room or office will leave you feeling exhilarated.

Review: Most of my time is spent in my garden. My children like to be out there with me but I’m always afraid they will get hurt on the garden tools. I wanted them to be able to spend time with Mom, help in the garden if they wanted to and still be safe.

I found this little garden tool set. It has worked great with my children. Although I wish we had 2 sets so both the kids could play at the same time. They still have a lot of fun with it and have decided to start their own garden next year.

The kids have a great time with the trowel. I find small holes dug all over the yard. The rake is great too. The only thing is they haven’t really gotten down pat the fact that once they dig the hole they can use the rake to put the dirt back. I usually find it in the grass along the way.

This little garden set is a lot of fun for my children. It’s not used much in the garden, but they still find ways of entertaining themselves with it for hours. That’s enough for me because an entertained child is a happy child.

Balancing Your Diet to Improve Tension and Stress

While we know that exercise can relieve stress, balancing your diet to improve tension and stress is another facet to achieving overall good health.

When our immune system is out of balance, we are more vulnerable to everyday stresses and tension. However, if our daily diet consists of foods that strengthen the immune system, we are more able to survive the effects of stress and tension we face on a daily basis.

What kind of balanced diet should we engage in? Remember your mom telling you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? She was right. Without eating a proper breakfast, we tend to stop at a coffee shop and choose a sugary delight. Instead, why not opt for a bowl of oatmeal with a glass of water. Substitute caffeine with chamomile tea, which is a wonderful stress reducer.

If you don’t have time to sit down and have a nourishing breakfast, try a vegetable smoothie. Packed with vitamins and nutrients, this is much better than coffee and toast.

Sugar contributes to stress. You may notice that a while after eating a sugary snack or a bar of chocolate, you feel fatigued. While the sugar may help in the short term, you are just adding wood to the fire in the long run. Conversely, snacking on protein is much healthier for you and helps to maintain blood sugar levels as well. Popcorn is another snack which can get you through the 3 o’clock yearning for something sweet.

It’s a good idea to avoid salt as it can increase blood pressure which, when confronted with a stressful situation, can increase the tension twofold. Foods such as hot dogs have a high salt content.

Another tip is to stay away from foods that contain fat. Instead, opt for vegetables, fruits, lean meats, fish, chicken, beans, and leafy green vegetables. These are not only healthy for you, but contain antioxidants that are beneficial in reducing free radicals in your body. For example, you can choose turkey burgers which are much leaner than regular beefburgers.

Instead of going out to lunch, you can make lunch at home and bring it to the office. Cut up some carrots, celery, and add some cottage cheese or tuna in water. Or, you can make a nutritious salad with pieces of chicken and lemon vinaigrette. Also, drink plenty of water each day. This serves to keep you sated and hydrated at the same time.

Balancing your diet to improve tension stress is as important as exercise. You will not only feel good, but your energy level will be constant and productivity will increase.

Review: Without a doubt this is a great outdoor activity center. It’s easy to put together and not hard to move. We can set it up on the patio if we are there or even in the yard if we are working in the yard.

It has two sides one for water and one for sand. Just don’t hold your breath that the water and sand will stay in those different areas. My girls think it’s great to mix the two together and see just how much of a mess they can make.

I like the cover. It actually stays on and is easy to attach. Plus it has a play space so if we are out on the deck my girls can still play with it. It does a great job of keeping the rain and those unwanted bugs out.

They enjoy the toys that came with it too. There are boats, bridges, shovels and sand buckets and they just have a ball with them. I have to laugh when I watch them play because you never know if the boat will be in the sand and the sand bucket full of water or not. Imagination  encouragement is great with this toy.

The sun umbrella is a great addition. I like to be in the yard and my daughters like to be with me. With the umbrella I’m not worried that they might become sun burnt or even overly hot while playing.

This activity center is a great addition to our backyard. My girls love it, we love it and all the neighborhood kids love it. Oh yea I almost forgot, the assembly was pretty easy too. That’s the best part of all.

More and more homeowners are using different color schemes in their homes that reflect their personalities. Depending on the colors you have in your home, they can play a pivotal role in how you feel. Let’s take a look at some basic colors that help relieve tension.

Pink: This color has a soothing and calming effect. Studies have shown that this nurturing color, especially among girls, is often linked to adults who prefer a less passive hue.

Blue: Studies have shown that blue is a relaxing color and one that promotes calm and inner peace. It also provides tranquility. One of the more popular colors, it is favored among men and is also said to reduce blood pressure.

The psychological effects of color has been the subject of much research. For example, studies have shown that red cars cause more accidents than silver cars. If you’ve seen any bullfights on TV, the red cape used to antagonize the bull is red for a reason. Red energizes, may provoke feelings of anger, and increase hostile attitudes.

It is also interesting to note that centuries ago colors were used as a holistic alternative to traditional medicine. Here are some examples of how colors were used to heal: The color yellow was used as purification of the body; the color indigo was used to aid in skin conditions; the color red was used as a stimulant; and the color orange was utilized to elevate one’s energy.

There is a reason why many homes are switching from traditional white to a variety of soft hues. White, in and of itself, may denote purity; but it is also devoid of healing properties that can relieve tension.

The aforementioned colors have been shown to relieve tension, and the color palettes of today are more comprehensive in achieving a certain look, while at the same time offering a soothing alternative to relieve tension.

Review: I love to garden so I spend a lot of time there. Having everything I need in one place and readily available is important because once I’m there I don’t want to have to make a lot of trips back and forth. This caddy has been a life saver for me in that department.

It’s made of a very durable canvas. If it gets wet that’s ok. It doesn’t ruin it in any way. It has deep pockets so all my gardening tools fit in it very well. I like the idea that I can also have a place to put my cell phone. I have children so I keep my cell phone close all the time. I have to admit I’ve lost a few in the garden because I would lay it down then step on it or the dog would run off with it. It’s been a money saver in that department.

The area for the seed packets is pretty neat too. I have a terrible time getting my tools ect wet when I’m in the garden. The hose is not my friend that’s for sure. With the seed packet compartment my seeds stay dry and all in one place. No more looking all over them when the dogs carted them off somewhere.

Gestational Diabetes: Why Is It Only Present During Pregnancy?

To understand gestational diabetes and why it is only present during pregnancy, we need to look at several factors.

According to the American Diabetes Association, a little over 130,000 pregnant women develop gestational diabetes each year. While the cause has not yet been determined, there are some signs that may be attributed to this condition.

The placenta contains hormones which contribute to the baby’s development. However, these hormones also prevent the build-up of insulin in the body which then causes the condition known as “insulin resistance”. As a result, when a woman cannot utilize the insulin during pregnancy, gestational diabetes occurs. What this means is that without sufficient insulin, blood sugar which would normally leave the blood, will build up and cause high blood sugar levels resulting in gestational diabetes.

Because of this, diagnosis of gestational diabetes usually occurs in the late stages of pregnancy. The treatment for this condition is immediate and includes a special diet and exercise program. It is meant to keep the blood sugar levels down.

Once gestational diabetes has been diagnosed, your doctor will monitor the progress you are making to ensure that the health of you and your baby is maintained. If warranted, insulin injections may have to be given because one of the problems associated with gestational diabetes is the risk of needing a cesarean section.

The good news is that gestational diabetes dissipates once the baby is born. However, there is a chance that you may develop this same condition if you become pregnant again.

There is evidence, however, that women who have gestational diabetes during pregnancy may develop a more serious form of diabetes later on. Therefore, it is recommended that pregnant women engage in a diet and exercise program which allows the body to use up the glucose that is present.

Regular check-ups with your ob-gyn doctor is recommended as well, not only to determine not only your overall health, but also to check the blood sugar levels. While gestational diabetes may occur only during pregnancy, it is nonetheless a condition which can result in Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes later on in life.

My children are even learning to do some great dives in the process.
